The gym is your home away from home. Well, at least it’s like that for me. I take pride in it, and I hope each of you do too. You all have made it such a place and it is something to be proud of.
*Cough cough…best gym in Knoxville*
We want you to treat it like it’s your home. This is one of the reasons we ask you all to pick up your weights, turn lights and fans off, chalk in the bucket, replace paper towel and toilet paper rolls, etc. There is a popular saying in the hiking community, “Leave your campsite better than you found it.” The same thing goes for the gym; leave the gym better than you found it for the next class or the next day.
I find it very upsetting picking up Ktowners left out KBs, unloading barbells, taking PVC and foam rollers back to their area, throwing away empty water bottles, and taking O-shoes back to the cubbies after every single class. It makes me feel as though you all just…don’t… care.
During our big clean out before Oktoberfest, Coach G and I found lots of used, balled up tape and pre-wrap up on top of the showers. Meaning, someone had thrown it up in the “attic” of the gym rather than throwing it away. That’s just sad, and I wish I could say it was the first time we have found used tape/ bandaids in a weird place. It’s not that we coaches are incapable of cleaning up, but we just want all Ktowners to show the gym a little respect and pick up after yourself. I know you all will make us proud.
Like Mama said, “I’m not your maid,”
