Challenges. From spiritual script to scholarly thinkers, there is a pretty consistent theme that challenges bring out the best in us. Many of us are seeing this if we are taking part in the Open. Forcing ourselves to commit to something and push our envelope tends to yield tremendous results. So let’s talk again about a wellness challenge offered at CFKT.

In a nutshell, CORE is a challenge to elicit a lifestyle change. It is 8 weeks of rigorous workouts, nutrition education, and a progressive “paleo” challenge. The bi-product in most cases is weight loss, and increased endurance, strength, and mobility. However, the more important take-away tends to be the lifestyle change that comes with knowledge and personal experience relative to food. This program is empowering people to make a life change and stick to it.

If think it sounds too good to be true, ask someone who is currently in the program. The CORE classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30am and 6:30pm. You are also more than welcome to come to a CORE Info Session listed below.

The next session of CORE begins the week of April 6, with an Onboarding Workshop and one-on-one consulting time. The challenge will run through May 29 and end with an Exit Workshop to celebrate results.

We encourage current members and those new to CrossFit to consider taking part in the next challenge. Having done my first nutrition challenge about five years ago (and doing about 15 different ones since then), I can offer a few bits of insight.

  • Just do it. Don’t try to find the best time for it. That time is now.
  • Find a friend to do it with you. It will make a big difference to have someone in your inner circle to lean on.
  • You may change your definition of ‘food’ and ‘diet.’
  • You will have measurable results.
  • Without even trying, you will begin to inspire others around you to make better decisions.
  • Things like burpees will suck less.
  • It will change your life, in a great way.
