-Catching the CrossFit bug, I’ve seen it happen to so many people in the past couple of months. It’s always a funny thing to watch, the skeptic coming into the gym for the first couple of weeks wondering how these 7 minute workouts are going to get them “in shape.” For some, after the first workout they’re a believer, for some it takes a couple weeks, and there are a few where months of progress is what is required for them to see the light. I think what helped me catch the “CrossFit bug” was the fact that we have turned exercising into a sport. That knot in the pit of my stomach before every soccer game reappears before every WOD, just like it did my whole life in competitive sports. Yes, I’m competing against other athletes, but I’m chasing my own performance…and that’s what I love most. My fitness level has almost become a by-product of my obsession with chasing performance and new PRs. That’s what keeps me psyched to come in and perform my best every day.

    I’ve had 2 – when I first wrote ”PR” next to a MetCon and the first time I wrote ”Rx” next to a MetCon.

    I caught the bug a year ago when I did my first WOD at a VA Beach affiliate and realized there’s competition involved with this thing. We all know it’s about self improvement, but let’s be honest: we love the competition.

    Also, the first time I did Fran. Or Murph.

    I still haven’t caught the bug yet. I got vaccinated with a bodybuilding shot. It’s really working out well for me…

    I heard the bodybuilding vaccination was made of body oil, brown paint and manthongs.

    Ya they definitely include man thongs. Coach G wore his once to a free Saturday class. It was a messy, ugly situation. I think he may have even greased up, but we all try not to remember.
