James, Jessie, Larry, Geri, and Jeremy trudging through the Filthy Fifty

Warm-up: Hip Mobility & 2×15 Strict Pull-ups

Metcon – Filthy Fifty:
For time:
50 24″ Box Jumps
50 Jumping Pull-ups
50 Kettlebell Swings, (35/20lbs)
50 Walking Lunges
50 Knees to Elbows
50 Push Presses (45/25lbs)
50 Back Extensions
50 Wall Balls (20/12lbs)
50 Burpees
50 Double Unders

Today was most everyone’s first time with the Filthy Fifty, and a bunch of you had the tenacity to finish it prescribed.  That was an amazing experience.  I’m sure in a few days you’ll feel the same way.  Until then, bask in the glory of your 500 reps.

Going home to wash the filthiness off,
Coach G

Which of the ten exercises did you think was the hardest and why?  Post to comments.

    The burpees were the hardest, I think. Just drained of all energy and was feeling pukie BEFORE them. I will say: the back extensions creep up on you. My back was definitely feeling quite extended.

    As they should feel quite extended. I think that means you’re doing them correctly?

    Hardest to do were the knees to elbows, my big fat belly was getting in the way. Hardest to push through were the burpees. At that point you’re wanting to quit but you know you have to keep pushing. Its definitely one of the hardest workouts physically and mentally.

    i say wall ball…given the spot where it pops up in the wod and the added element of getting a 20lb ball up 10 ft. i think half the reason the burpees seem so difficult is bc we just hopped right out of the wall balls

    HARDEST was knees to elbows … takes so much body control and I couldnt even hold my fat-ass up there. burpees was the right there with it though, being at the end of the workout. if you would switch burpees and box jumps then I might be saying box jumps right now?

    Burpees are uncomfortable to say the least. Though not as painful, but my lack of coordination during double unders ate some time. Even after Caleb’s help with them when I was there. I’ve made progress, but I’m only good for 5-8 before screwing up. I think I’m gonna make double unders a permanent part of warm-ups until I fix the problem.

    I have to agree on the Knees to elbows, that is what slowed me down. That and the wall balls, burpees, and the double unders. But, who’s counting. Really can’t wait to do that one again, not happy with my time at all. SPECIAL THANKS TO DOUG-MIESTER for the incredible backup!!!!

    Days like these are the ones that I want to partake in! Man once my back gets better I’m on this workout like MJ on little boys.

    @Kerr
    That may have been too soon for the MJ fans out there…

    Don’t forget the 1/4th squat part! Makes it harder, amirite?!

    I think the last exercises back to back are by far the hardest part of the filthy; wall-balls into burpees into double-unders. Thank goodness for the Boaz jump-roping genetics. Otherwise, I would have sucked it up on the double-unders because I was DEAD! Thanks to Forrest though for cheering me on during those last exercises.

  12. Geri July 16, 2009 at 6:33 pm

    I HATE burpees!! That was the worst part of the regime. Perhaps they will become slightly easier but I doubt it. I want more medicine ball “throw at Grant” activities.

    @Geri
    Not likely to happen soon with all your ferocity…

    awwwwwwwwwwwwwww come on doug….why you gotta call me out?????? isee how it is

  15. Dani July 17, 2009 at 11:55 am

    First time I thought I was going to throw up/pass out during a crossfit workout! I did back extensions for the first time in 4 or 5 years though!!

  16. LarryS July 17, 2009 at 1:09 pm

    Because of my knee Grant didn’t make me do the double unders. I had to do twice the number in normal jumb rope but with expertise in that area it was not any easy task. With that said then the burpees were the hardest since it came near the end . . . it was a killer for me. I was sucking wind big time.
