Tomorrow kicks off Movember! Here is some information for all the good stuff we have going on this month related to the Movember awareness!

Each year during the month of November, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on hundreds of thousands of men’s faces around the world.  Men grow and women support the moustache for 30 days to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.  In the U.S. in 2012, 209,000 men and women participated in Movember, raising over $21 million to help change the face of men’s health.

In 2011, the Mo Bros & Mo Sistas of CrossFit TSAC hosted their inaugural Snatches For Staches, the WOD being Isabel (30 snatches for time). http://www.crossfittsac.com/archives/1064  What started out as a fun idea has grown into a tradition for TSAC, making S4S one of their signature events.  The premise is no different than any other CF Competition – but there is a Movember twist.  Each athlete is encouraged to come dressed in costume, be registered at Movember.com, and sport a moustache as a guy or a moustache inspired outfit if you are a girl.  Now in 2013, Movember has began MOVE, a new global initiative that encourages Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to get moving.  Check it out here:

Snatches for Staches 2013 @ CrossFit Ktown:

Event date and time: Tuesday, Movember 26th, 2013 starting @ 6pm with the first heat beginning around 6:30.

This event will also act as the usual End of Movember party the rugby team partakes in.  It will probably be much like Barbells for Boobs was in its first year, low key yet a good time.  Social and fun, the heats with start every 15 minutes with a time cap of 10 minutes for the workout.  Every skill level welcome!  Although you don’t have to be registered with or make a donation to Movember,  it is greatly encouraged and appreciated!  Social to follow the workout at CFKT.

    CF TSAC is a great gym. I felt like I had walked into CFKT in So Cal…great coaching, very cool members, very hospitable! It felt like home. I’m not surprised they have taken a lead role with an event like this.
