More Day 1…with videos!

Adam (Paul/Phoenix) gets pumped up.

Warm-up: 10 Power Cleans (45/25lbs), 10 Presses(45/25lbs), 10 OHS (45/25lbs), 10 Good Mornings (45/25lbs) x2

As promised, here is more Faction Games fun! Coach G did a great job of recapping day 1 and its events, but today is some more day 1 with videos. That way you can feel like you were amidst the action. (Note: when watching the videos make sure to enter a sauna for a more real-life experience).

WOD1: Snatch Ladder with OHS, 10 points per snatch, 1 point per OHS (Weights: 115lbs – 235lbs at 10 lb increments.)

Adam cranks through the first few bars busting out several OHS at each weight. Here you see his 10lb PR at 195lbs.

After waiting for what seemed like forever, Ethan was finally up. He took a different strategy for the workout by getting several OHS done on the first snatch, dropping the bar, and then doing some more OHS.

This was his "rest" before more OHS.

Ethan managed to finish the workout at 155lbs. A 20lb PR! By the way… he was sooo close to 165lbs.

It was Kirsten’s turn to kick some booty after that. WOD 1: 15 minute AMRAP – 4Turkish Get-ups, 28 Snatches (14 per arm), 14 KB Burpees, and 14 Goblet Squats. This workout kicked off at 1:30pm with no cloud cover. You can only imagine the heat.

Kirsten pleases us all with the signature Purple Cobra! And the shorts to match.

Kirsten said the ground was suffocating and extremely hot. That seemed to pretty much b e the consensus.  Remember Kirsten was coming off a shoulder injury for this workout and this is an all shoulder WOD.

Kirsten finished the workout with 2 Rounds plus some KB Swing burpees. If you’re curious to what those are…here ya go.

Now it’s Adam’s turn to do the KB WOD. The movements were the same as Kirsten’s with the exception of goblet squats…instead they were 1-arm KB OHS, which turned out to be Adam’s doom.

Adam finished with 1 Round and some KB Burpees. He did great! Unfortunately I have no footage of Ethan’s run on this WOD. Sorry Ethan!!!


The 5K obstacle trail run was next on the event schedule with Kirsten up first. The heat was still smothering, but there was a water obstacle everyone was looking forward to.

What you don’t know is that Kirsten literally got to the starting line with seconds before her heat. We couldn’t hear them announce her name!

Kirsten finished in 27ish minutes, once again placing her top 10 in the WOD and producing a 7th place finish for the day.


Next Ethan’s heat was called and he finished with a great time, bumping him up in the standings.

The last WOD of the day and Adam was really looking forward to it. The Phoenix was out and aflame. He finished with 18:47 and made up some ground from the KB WOD.

Getting out front early was the game plan.

The Phoenix practically flew through the finish line.

Day 1 and all its events were finally over. Day 2 promised to hold much more sun, sweat, blood, tears, and maybe a little fun.

    Just wanted to say what I forgot to post…that water obstacle that everyone was looking forward to…ya it turned out to be like a swampy, hot, nasty bog of water.
