And so it becomes more or less official today. Our spot has been subleased and we are going to be moving on Saturday, June 30th. Once again, tell all your friends how you’re going to help your gym move on a Saturday for nothing but the satisfaction of hanging out with some really cool people. That might pique their interest and in turn help us fill out this new facility we are moving to.
But seriously, trucks and trailers – bring them. I will have a few precise jobs that I will need filled such as painting, mat logistics, HMFIC, etc. We will fill those positions as I create them. If you have a particular skill set that you think we could put to great use, let us know! Maybe you are the best coffee go-getter Knoxville has ever seen (Doug Coffin). No job is too small, and no task is beneath anyone!
Now here is the super serious portion of the post that is also super kewl! 8,000 square feet is a lot of floor space to mat. Horse stall mats run somewhere around $35 per 4×6’ mat. We are going to try to work out a volume deal, but even then matting 7,000 sq ft would mean buying over 250 mats. The cost adds up. So what we are going to do is mat portions of the gym, and we want you to contribute.
This mat donation is purely voluntary, and we will not show favoritism to those who buy mats (wink). If you buy a mat(s), we will let you throw a design, word, picture, whatever on it as long as it is approved by us first. So if you want to forever have you name etched in to Ktown floor of fame here is your chance. If you just want to buy 20 mats and not do any design work here is your chance. We would love to have everyone buy one mat. Think of it as a belated Ktown birthday gift – since we just turned 3 years old in May and you didn’t even bother to wish us happy birthday. :D
The man in charge of this effort is Mr. Rise-up, James Ellis himself. He is going to handle the acquisition of funds, purchasing of mats, and logistics of getting mats to Ktown 3.0. So if you are interested in purchasing a mat speak with James. He is a regular in the MWF 5:30PM class. I will get you an email address ASAP (or you could read the comments where he will write it down). He will be supported in this philanthropic endeavor by one other not yet mentionable name (as in I haven’t told him he is doing it yet (Ben Slocum)).
So hopefully my over and sometimes unwieldy punctuation didn’t confuse you too much. If you have any questions or comments regarding the move, the mats, or why buying locally doesn’t necessarily reduce the carbon footprint of the produce grown, leave a comment, email or call, or speak with me at the gym.
Aren’t you glad we are moving in to a building with air conditioning (lulz),
