This is the time of year that my mom starts to make her illustrious Thanksgiving meal and Christmas shopping list. When I was a kid, I used to get in trouble if I tried to sneak and look at it. The list is always pretty detailed; it contains names, items, stores, prices, and anything else she might need to know about what she’s going to buy for meals and gifts.
If you’re one of those people that loves to make a list this time of year, I want you to add a few things to the very top of your list (I’m not kidding!). If you’re not the list-making type, go ahead and start a list (now!) with these items:
Canned tuna, canned chicken, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and an extra winter coat.
This month Ktown will be collecting food for Second Harvest food bank and in December, we will collect items for Coats for the Cold. Most of us have much while so many around us are in need. According to Second Harvest, they feed 1.1 million meals a month in our 18 county region, and there are 11 thousand kids a week who are going hungry. 11,000 kids. 11 thousand. Kids. Let’s help change those numbers!
Second Harvest has dropped off a barrel for us to fill. Let’s fill it to the brim – more than once!
Be on the lookout for information about collecting coats in December. But, since you’ve already written it down on your list, I’m sure you won’t forget… :)
