What’s New in Knoxville?

Big weights.

A1) Strength Band Push-Ups: 5×5
A2) Seated Band Rows: 5×5 (Hold Tension @ Back of Pull for 3-5s)

MetCon – AMRAP 10 Minutes:
Turkish Get-Ups
(Goal is to stay moving without rushing through reps).

There are several events coming up in the month of April and May. A few at Ktown, but many more outside events like 5k’s, trail races, mud runs, and CrossFit competitions. Have you checked the dry erase calendar at Ktown to see if you might be interested in one? Have you asked us to put up an event (social, physical, or otherwise) that interests you? That is what the calendar is for! Check it every now and then to see what’s going down in Knoxville. Coach Markie Mark aka Biz Markie aka The Fireman does a fantastic job of keeping it updated, but we need your help too to let us know of exciting activities. Speaking of an awesome upcoming event… Rev3! Get a team together and make a day out of it! If you want to participate, talk to a coach, there may be a deal involved.

P.S. If you are coming to support CrossFit Ktown Team Jacked and Tan book your Ohio hotel reservations ASAP. Let us know you are coming so we can hook you up with anyone else that is planning to attend. Cheaper = better.

My company, ARiES Energy, is sponsoring two 5ks coming up! More info below:

Keep Sevier Beautiful’s (KSB) 5K Run/Walk that highlights the Greenway in Pigeon Forge. All proceeds benefit KSB’s programs. The walk/run begins in the Pigeon Forge Municipal Parking lot, down Teaster Lane to Old Mill Road to Butler Road to finish on the Greenway. Kids Fun Run is around the parking lot and super heroes cheer them along the way! $25 pre-registration for 5K, $5 for the kids fun run. Register here:

The Run for Clean Air on May 11th hosted by the East Tennessee Clean Fuel’s Coalition (great organization – check them out at You may be surprised, but TN is a leading state in alternative fuels and electric vehicles). You don’t have to love the environment or clean air to run, you can instead run to support our nation’s energy independence, continued innovation in energy technologies and efforts to improve national security! The run takes place on Cherokee Boulevard in Sequoyah Hills.

Rebecca Mumper aka Mumps and Myself will be competing in the Olympic Rev3 Triathlon. I’m sure they’re others from Ktown competing as well. Come out to support, hang out at the Rev3 Expo on the Worlds Fair lawn or you can volunteer and work the event. I’ve worked the event every year and it’s a lot of fun. Hope to see you there
