Hey gang, it’s Coach G coming at you from Mechanicsburg, PA.  It sounds like I left Knoxville just in time to miss all of the power outages and fallen trees.

With the help of my dad and sister, we put about 500 miles behind us to arrive at this little burg in Pennsylvania.  We stopped here to watch the US vs Panama Gold Cup semifinal.  It seldom resembled a soccer match, but we’re through to the final.

Many things have changed in the last 48 hours as it relates to Death Race.  They altered the gear list, added new twists, and lengthened the overall distance and time of the race.  The gear list, as it stands now, contains: goggles, Dixon-Ticonderoga, pencil, hand drill with ½” drill bit, hand saw, tape measure, axe or maul, 10′ section of climbing rope, carabineer, one twenty dollar bill, and two one dollar bills. Alas, the live fish has been taken off the list.  So much for my mid-race sashimi!

The weather looks like fine Scottish weather: 50% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, highs in the mid 70s, and lows in the low 50s.  “Ah, the rain is falling straight down.  Well, slightly to the side like.”  So now in the first week of summer I am worrying about hypothermia.  I guess it’s like my mother always used to say, “Man, it feels good to be a gangsta.”

We arrive in the maple syrup conglomerate capital of the world tomorrow: Vermont.  Talk with you all again very soon.

Coach G

BABAY! I’m so excited for you. I hope you get to build something. That should play to your strengths. And run 60 some odd miles of the AT.

I can’t wait to hear how this goes… I’m so jealous. You’ll do so great, G! Tell Genna and Larry to keep us posted!

I expect nothing short of Lightning Bolts from your arse! Good luck Coach, I hope you find great ideas to incorporate into our daily WODs. You will be in our thoughts as we sit back and enjoy our Paleo Margaritas this weekend.

G, you didn’t have to travel all the way to Vermont. You could’ve just carried all your tools to Rachael’s and we could have built a sun room on back of the house using only an axe, hand drill, and hand saw while wearing goggles. Then we could run/jog back and forth to Lowe’s for material (Minimum, 100 trips to Lowe’s). All in driving rain and 80mph winds with trees falling all around… Good luck, keep us posted!

    Nice Braveheart reference Ben.
