CrossFit prepares you for the unexpected in life…The time where you might need to lift a car off of a small child, climb to safety by a rope that’s been tossed down to you, or carry your friend like a sandbag from a burning building.  I’m sure these are the situations on the forefront of your mind while training, unlike Regionals and your BFF’s Fran time.  In order to get strong, you have to train.  In order to train to your fullest capacity, you have to stay injury free.

What Ktown and I have decided to offer you is an opportunity to come to your home gym and have a specific time set aside to work on your mobility and flexibility.  The more mobile you are, the less likely you are going to injure yourself.  We will focus on problem areas of CrossFit athletes such as the hips, shoulders, chest, and back.  The class will also incorporate core strengthening exercises to increase stability during your lifts.  This won’t solely be a yoga class, or specifically a CrossFit Mobility class.  It’ll be Yogility (get it?).  The two will be intertwined to give you a great balance to all the hard training you do at Ktown.  Think, the yin to your yang, the honey to your almond butter, the… you get it.

There won’t be meditation, savasana, or OMs involved, unless you want them.  I’m going to base a lot of this class on the feedback you give me, so speak up.  Please comment on this blog post what time and day of the week you would like to see Yogility offered.  The inaugural class will be on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:30pm, and the cost is only 5 dolla bills y’all.

I’ve experienced huge gains through my practice of yoga and mobility work, and I can’t wait to share that with you.  I can’t express how excited I am to teach this class with the intent of keeping you healthy and mobile so you can take on your next big CrossFit goal!

Oh my goodness. I just commented to David last night that what I really need is a yoga type class. My lack of my lack of mobility is due to arthritis and age. I competed in gymnastics in high school so this is tough for me to deal with. Am very interested in this class. Should be able to make next Tursday night. 7;30 is a good time for me.

I am so excited about this! I’ve been doing more and more yoga online at home to get in extra mobility and stretching. I’ve noticed at the same time how much more relaxed, balanced and peaceful I feel afterward and it goes together with my not-so-regular meditation practice. Savasana and OMs are fine with me ;-) I can’t make Tuesday or Thursday evenings, but those mornings or MWF evenings are good. Good luck regardless!!

I definitely want this class and can’t wait to participate, but not gonna lie it is a means to an end for me. An end to never get injured and be all that I can be. I am not interested in the OMs, but rather the serious mobility I’m going to achieve from it.

Jilynn just wants to escape the mobility work I have been doing with her at home. Don’t encourage her! :-) Seriously, great idea, D-Bo!
